It only took me a moment to figure out who the first author of my first literary themed blog should be. LMM is best known for her Anne of Green Gables. Anne of Green Gables is a fantastic and inspiring work for children and adults. One thing I appreciate about every work I have read by LMM is the level at which she writes. Parents, let your child read this series at the earliest age possible. Adults and everyone in between, if you haven't read this series, pick it up and read it ASAP. It will probably change your life, even in the most subtle ways. LMM gets you to see things differently; the beauty of a fall leaf blowing down a lonely, dusty road or the wonder one can find in the seemingly unending northern winters. The vocabulary and literary references are top-notch. Every book in the series is incredibly and soulfully executed.
But the series I wanted to discuss in particular is Emily of New Moon. The Emily series is aimed for a mature audience, although you may find it in juvenile fiction. As an aside, it is a misconception that LMM's books are strictly for children. These books are just as adroit and profound for mature audiences and the mature sensibilities contained within are not to be ignored. The Emily series are for anyone, writer's especially, that need to find inspiration to follow their dreams, to, as Emily would say, "Follow the Alpine Path." If you need literary inspiration, or you just want to read an amazing series, pick up some Emily Books. You'll be glad you did.
